Illustration of the problem

SUMMARY

The new star+text button "default device" is disproportionately large, especially on the plasmoid. On my system, it takes half the space normally available for reading the name of the device.

Even with a shorter text like "default" it would be too long for the purpose.

I have seen the relevant discussion in https://phabricator.kde.org/D23389, but apparently at the time the button was located in a third line, below the volume area. Also, the background coloring makes it clear whether the option is on or off, so the concern about filled/unfilled stars in third-party themes might be unwarranted.

If anything, I'd suggest adding a "icon-only button" option to reduce the space for users who are familiar with the button (similar to okular's navigation bar).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect several audio output devices
2. Open the plasmoid

OBSERVED RESULT

The "default device" buttons take a disproportionate amount of space on the plasmoid.

EXPECTED RESULT

Less crowded plasmoid, or with more space for displaying the name of the devices.
