Could we better integrate RawTherapee as image editor?
For example, by simply adding an option to use RawTherapee (or any arbitrary command) _instead of_ digikams own editor?
because, let's be honest - the absolutely only thing the integrated editor has going for itself is the fact that it's integrated.

Well, I use the integrated Image Editor for almost everything. But your wish has already been fulfilled. In digiKam-7.0.0-Beta3 you can choose whether the editor opens the RAW image with Darktable or RawTherapee. You can edit it and when you are done and close the external editor it will be loaded into the digiKam Image Editor.

We have already a RAW import plugin delegate to RawTherapee introduced with 6.4.0 and improved with next 7.0.0...

There is no reason to replace as well embedded digiKam image editor as well...
