SUMMARY
I cannot succeed in splitting a clip: kdenlive crashes each time. The sorces I use are mp4 files in FullHD.
The HMI I use is in French so note sure about the exact menu name in English

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a clip in the project's sources
2. contextual menu: task on the clip > Automatic scene separation
3. Do not change the default options (or change them) and click OK


OBSERVED RESULT
Kdenlive crashes more or less quickly but always

EXPECTED RESULT
Get the clip with separators

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.12.3 to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ 

If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your configuration or packaging.

Hi Emhor,

Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested. The appimage v19.12.3 
does not show the same issue, so it should actually be a packaging issue.

Just saw that you work with 17.12.3 which is not maintained anymore.

Glad to hear it works. 
We close this bug. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.

Ok, thanks for the notice. I was using 17.12.3 since it's the version 
that you get with Synapic Packages Manager. That's a pity they provide 
only an obsolete one! ;-)
