SUMMARY
This issue occurs on Wayland.
On X11 we can see a glitch after the steps below.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start Wayland session
2. open calendar by clicking on digital clock beside the system tray
3. click on the next day

OBSERVED RESULT
A bar appears on top of calendar.
Compare the screenshots before and after click on the next day.

EXPECTED RESULT
no bar on top

That bar is the contrast region not being updated.

forgive me being stupid, but are you saying this is happening on X or wayland?

The bug shown in "after click on the next day" screenshot occurs on Wayland.

This is probably somehow my fault (I rewrote the layout of this applet recently). I don't see it on X11 FWIW.

Plasma 5.20 beta has a different calendar and this report is no longer relevant.
