- What I was doing when the application crashed:
starting the plasma session with applications loading. 

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
before even the GUI of Kontact was started the programm crashed. In other accounts were I have the akonadi instance running eg as organizer, akonadi crashes there at startup too. 
I am therefore not sure that this is an akonadi or kontact but. 


- Custom settings of the application:
There have been large update of glibc recently in opensuse Leap, do not know if this is related. The setting of plasma is to start in a row several applications in automatic at plasma loading. The crash of kontact happens before the password challenge of kwallet.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

The file size is 1.7 GB and the created file generally 1.1 GB) and confirmed the correct end of the process. As this plugin is started in automatic too, this could be related?

Does it help if you revert the last glibc update?
E.g. YaST->Software Management, search for glibc, click on "Versions" and install an older one.

I did notice some openSUSE bugreports about crashes after the last update in Leap 15.1 (GNOME related, but still).
I.e. it might be a downstream issue.

Ok, I am frivolous and i still use Kontact. 

It does not crash anymore so I do mark this as fixed. 
In my defense I have to say: i do not bark or snap today. ;-)
