Description Rajinder Yadav 2020-03-29 02:45:57 UTC
SUMMARY

"Restore previous session" and "Restore manually saved session" fail to save all open windows. I am currently saving my session manually and I notice some application fail to restore after session is saved and a reboot is performed.

Also with multiple desktop, some of the browser window don't open in the respective desktop. For firefox multiple browser windows will open in the same desktop.

Failing to restore for me are following that fail to reopen on new session.

1. Konsole
2. VSCode Insider (https://code.visualstudio.com/insiders/)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setting -> Start up & shutdown -> Desktop session -> Restore manually saved session
2. Setting -> Virtual Desktop -> Create 4 desktops
3. Open Konsole, multiple instance of vscode (desktop1)
4. Open multiple firefox on different desktops
5. From desktop toolbar -> Leave -> Save Session
6. Reboot system

OBSERVED RESULT

Konsole instances fail to re-open
VSCode instances fail to re-open
Firefox instances seem to get restored to wrong desktops

EXPECTED RESULT

Add saved windows in session should re-open in the respective desktop.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

We need different bugs for different things.

Lets focus this on konsole.

Please include your ~/.config/ksmserverrc

and any ~/.config/session/konsole_ files

Is this still happening for Konsole? Is it reproducible?
Comment 7 Rajinder Yadav 2020-09-29 10:06:25 UTC
I just tried this now with the latest updates.

1. Firefox is getting saved now, but with multiple windows and multiple desktop, two of the windows keep getting saved to the wrong desktop even after I saved the session manually.

2. Konsole failed to restored.
3. LibreOffice Calc failed to restore.
4. LibreOffice Write failed to restore.

Kate, Spectacle, Thunderbird are now getting restored.

Yes this happens every time for me.
Comment 8 Rajinder Yadav 2020-09-29 10:10:46 UTC
In previous post when I said updated, I meant updated openSUSE Tumbleweed.

KDE Plasma: 5.19.5
KDE Framework: 5.74.0
Qt: 5.15.1
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2020-09-29 16:08:14 UTC
#1 is tracked with another bug: Bug 336990. Let's mark it as a duplicate of that.

#2 is the fault of Konsole. You should file a bug on Konsole.

#3 and #4 are the fault of LibreOffice. See https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129370

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 336990 ***
