Currently when you create a new file or folder in Dolphin or on the Desktop a modal dialog popups, where you have to enter new name for the file or folder. 
I am not sure if I am not in favoring the way Windows handles it: 

When you create a new file or folder, it is directly created, i.e. it is displayed on the Desktop or in the Explorer, named "New folder" or "New file". 
In order to rename it, the file and filename is already selected and you can start typing right away.

Maybe just take it for considerations. I'm fine if you are opposed to it, but I could imagine it for KDE too. :)

Windows always appends new items to the end, unlike Dolphin or the Folder View, where items are always correctly sorted.

To me it looks like a WONTFIX.

Isn't this actually independed on the rename dialog?

Yeah I think this is fine the way it is, for the reason that Christoph provides, as well as various others.
