Most likely, this is a duplicate of bug 368847. If you're able to reproduce this crash, could you please install debug packages for kwin and attach a new backtrace when the crash happens next time? Also, note that 5.16 is no longer maintained by KDE. Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. Please provide the requested information as soon as possible and set the bug status as REPORTED. I have in the meantime moved from Plasma to GNOME, and I haven't noticed any crashes. Kwin did crash a lot for me related to some Plasma animations (reported), unrelated to digiKam, so maybe this bug is related to Kwin. But there is one other difference that may be related: in Plasma KDE the remote media path inside digiKam was /media/username/longdevicename/Photos/ but the same location now on GNOME is /mnt/longdevicename/Photos/. When setting up the collection in GNOME I chose the removable media option, but digiKam still added it under Local, I guess it matters if the device is automounted? I haven't removed KDE yet so I can login back if you'd like me to run backtrace again. I installed kwin-dev package. Is it safe for me to do that? I don't want that to affect my collection in a bad way. (In reply to Mihaela from comment #5) > Is it safe for me to do that? I don't want that to affect my collection in a > bad way. I'm not an expert, but it should be fairly safe to do that. Settings the status of the bug report back to needs NEEDSINFO BACKTRACE.
