Did sound work after installing the extra packages? Sound (.ogg or .mp3 files) does not work even after installing additional packages. Additionally i found out that there is no way to spread the columns so you can never see the whole time. But that is another issue and i am not sure if this was done on purpose or not. Thanks for that information. Note that package dependencies are the responsibility of distributions, so you should report any missing dependent packages to Kubuntu. The issue about the time column not being wide enough to display the whole time has been fixed in KAlarm version 2.12.0 (KDE Applications 18.08). Sound alarms work on my Neon system (which is an Ubuntu derivative, as is Kubuntu). I have the following phonon packages installed: libphonon4qt5-4 libphonon4qt5-bin libphonon4qt5experimental4 phonon4qt5 phonon4qt5-backend-vlc If your system is missing any of these, try installing them and see if it makes a difference. Just to be sure, can you confirm that sound works on your system when using other applications? Phonon has now been replaced with libcanberra for playing sound files. This should hopefully be more reliable and resolve this issue. This fix will be in KAlarm version 3.7.1, which will be released in KDE Gear 24.02.1 (commit dd4bab1a3642c0ec860ffada450d4d41dd85080f). Unfortunately, because the final Qt5 based KDE Gear release (23.08.5) has now been issued, this fix will not be available for Qt5 based versions of KAlarm. |
