macOS Finder and GNOME Nautilus have a feature whereby if you select some items and right-click on one of them, one of the menu items is "Create new folder with these items". If you select some items and create a folder using a keyboard shortcut, the items are moved to that folder.

It would be nice if Dolphin had an equivalent feature.

This feature is really useful, especially when you are ordering several files in different folders, but there's not that sorting option (it can be an arbitrary criterion) I could use for a certain requirement

I use Dolphin a lot and this would be very helpful as I have tons of files I need sorted in different folders.

In addition to this, would something like this be a good idea to add to the context menu with submenus?

Copy to... > New Folder (specify a new folder name)
            -------------- (separator)
             Directory1
             Directory2
             Directory3
            -----(down arrow/more directories below) ----

Move to... > New Folder (specify a new folder name)
Trash (Move to trash) <--maybe not a good idea
            -------------- (separator)
             Directory1
             Directory2
             Directory3
            -----(down arrow/more directories below) ----

Or if the submenus are looks cluttery, just click make "Copy to../Move to.." clickable then a "New Folder"-like dialog would appear with auto-complete for existing directories.

Usefulness:
- If the folder you'd like to copy/move to is way down below or way up high the scrollable view.
- No need to have open another window for dragging and dropping the selected items.

Okay what I was suggesting was already implemented. Just go to Settings > Configure Dolphin > Services then check the "'Copy to' and 'Move to' commands"

But the 'Create folder in current directory -> move selected files to new folder' is not there yet. I bet there's not a shortcut there either.

i didn't know this. Thanks for the tip!

There is a workaround though to just create a service menu like here
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/thoughts-on-my-kde-service-menu-to-create-a-folder-with-selected-items-in-dolphin/56570
but something native and intuitive would be very nice to have. Maybe adding some things in the feature we haven't thought of to make sorting into folders more efficient.
