STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create 3 files:
  a: /**/\n/**\n
  b: /**/\n\n
  c: /**\n*/\n
 (hex versions):
  a: 2f2a 2a2f 0a2f 2a2a 0a
  b: 2f2a 2a2f 0a0a
  c: 2f2a 2a0a 2a2f 0a0a
2. kdiff a b c

OBSERVED RESULT
"Data loss error:
If it is reproducible please contact the author."

no crash
