ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Happens on Kubuntu 19.04 and 19.10, not in 18.04. Possibly the same as https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/1145 the problem could be sddm-helper, and it seems to be solved there.
I tried to fill a bug on kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com, but my emails are always rejected for unknown reason. Maybe somebody here can fw this to the right ppl if this is not the right place?

What version of sddm is that.

package sddm is 0.18.0-1ubuntu2
Comment 3 David Edmundson 2020-01-15 16:02:08 UTC
From that SDDM thread, there was a patch in 0.18.1.

So there's nothing to indicate that this isn't fixed.

then what do you suggest?
Comment 5 David Edmundson 2020-01-15 16:08:31 UTC
SDDM says it was fixed in 5.18.1 you are running 5.18.0.

Ok, then which steps can you suggest me to get that fix in Kubuntu 19.10 (since the last is the current version, somebody should take care of it I guess)? Assuming the ml can't be contacted by me.

Please ask your distribution if they are interested in backporting the fix or updating to the recent version.

It's the first think I've done, like I wrote in the first post. But unfortunately my emails are always rejected for unknown reason, without any explanation. Sent an email to the ml admin, no answer. Sent an assistance request to the mailman of ubuntu's ml and he just said to check my subscription. That's it.
