Edit in local machine and save (writes in remote machine)
Go to remote machine, edit and save the file

Thanks for the report.

I tried to save to fish://localhost/tmp/foo.txt and then edit /tmp/foo.txt and then reload the document in the original Kate instance and I did not encounter a crash.

Are you able to test with a newer version of Kate and KIOCore (where the actual crash happened)?
