Screen recording. Screen recording #2. Screen recording |
Sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding the issue. Do you think you could attach a screen recording, maybe? Created attachment 124686 [details] Screen recording. (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding the issue. Do you think you > could attach a screen recording, maybe? Sorry if my explanation was so hard to understand. :-( Today I tried to reproduce it, first with 10 manually created folders and a manually created zip file and the bug just did not want to appear. Then I tried it again with one of the lecture files and was able to reproduce it again as with all the other lectures. You can see label in the bottom bar saying "10 folders (Ordner)", which means I have actually not selected any special (sub)folder when I drop the files. Created attachment 124690 [details]
Screen recording #2.
I can now easily reproduce it:
If you try to drop something left to a folder which is _empty_, it's copied to the top folder.
If you try to drop something left to a folder which is _not empty_ it's actually copied into the _not empty_ folder.
Just like in the last attached video.

This is actually pretty annoying. Once in a while it happens that I copy all content of a big zip file with many files and folders into the wrong folder, because Dolphin does not pick the right destination.
Please see again the following screen recording, where I created a sample folder and ZIP file.
At 0:28 in the video above, which destination is meant to be overwritten actually? ;) The issue was about dragging and dropping a file into a folder "A", whose content Dolphin detail's view shows. When A contains however so many folders that there's no free space available in the view to drop into directly into A, the dropped file will end up in any of A's subfolders. I'd guess the best workaround is navigate a folder up and to drop it there onto the destination folder A. |
Created attachment 124666 [details] Screenshot of the issue. SUMMARY In the detailed view, a folder is only highlighted if the mouse directly hovers over the rectangle bounding the icon and the file name. This is an indicator that this folder will be used. If it is not highlighted it should indicate that it's not going to be involved in an action. However, dragging and dropping files left to the tree of subfolders, will actually copy them into the subfolder (which is in the same line as the mouse pointer), although it's not highlighted. It's not quiet easy to undo this unwanted action. Ctrl+R does not work. However, if it is actually the intention to drop it into the subfolder, it would be very convenient if the whole line were highlighted. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Like in the screenshot: 1. Details view 2. Drag files or folders 3. Drop them left of the tree OBSERVED RESULT No subfolder is highlighted. Files or folders are copied into the subfolder, which is in the same line as the mouse pointer. EXPECTED RESULT The files are dropped into the main folder OR the subfolder line is highlighted. For the latter case, if the files should go to the main folder, the user would need to drop it onto the most right folder of the bread crumb or the user first has to go a level up.
