SUMMARY
*Cody- when i'm watching the video playback on a quite larger size recording (about 1Gig) it has a hard time with the playback. Windows 10 just did a huge update to my PC as well. Its hard to edit video when you can't watch the video and Kdenlive crashes, but only on that 1gig video clip does it want to crash. The shorter ones it doesn't bother it.

Try with the 19.12 version. Performance on the timeline should be much better even with big files.

Can you please update to the latest version (20.12.3 at the moment, https://kdenlive.org/en/download/) and report here whether this is still happening?

Please check also if using Preview Scaling or Proxy clips solves your problem.
