STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create python file
2. save
3. kate automatically switch highlight to REXX

What's the filename you choose for saving?

Kate Part 5.67.0

Unable to reproduce with the provided steps.

I also tried by creating a new file and then Save As "xyz.py". The correct Python highlighting is associated.
