After upgrading to openSUSE Leap 15.1, kmail still works fine, good !

Yet I have been puzzled by the 9,999+ label over the icon in the task bar.
This is actually the unread email count newly added by
https://phabricator.kde.org/D9841

This is useless for 9999+ unread mails
(a mailing list I'm either searching in,
or filtering on previously read messages);
but even if the count was meaningful,
I would much prefer to hide this unread count
when not in the task of consulting mails.

Is there any way to turn this feature off ? (none found yet)

KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks 5.55.0
Qt 5.9.7 (built against 5.9.7)

KMail settings / Appearance / General tab. There's a "show unread email in taskbar" box.

It's probably not available in your version however.

Indeed, not there yet.
Good to know it is configurable in newer versions, thanks !

Specific folders, e.g. the one holding a large mailing list, can also be excluded from the new mail count:

Menu bar - Folder - Folder Properties - General tab

Turn off "Act on new/unread mail in this folder".
