SUMMARY

Only a few strings in the gui probably coming from Qt are translated, most strings are not translated in german with a complete translation of the catalog.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start KBibtex

OBSERVED RESULT
Many untranslated strings

EXPECTED RESULT
A fully translated gui

Ubuntu 19.04
KBibTeX Version 0.8.1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Qt Version: Qt 5.12.2 (kompiliert gegen 5.12.2)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414375, the proposed patch should fix this issue als well, but that is not tested.
I guess all other versions of kbibtext up to master are also affected

Strange that you observe so many untranslated strings. There are people working on translations for many languages and I have not received any other such reports in recent years.

However, I made a change to the translation system in KBibTeX triggered by bug 414375 in commit 84c5042c79d14667c5d9cd6 for 'master' branch. That may fix the problem for you. Please test and confirm.

Fixing issues with translations

Fixing a crash that apparently is connected to a failed translation
of a string as reported in bug 414375.

Burkhard Lück <lueck@hube-lueck.de> provided a patch to CMakeLists.txt
which should fix this problem.

This commit is a manual backport from master's commit 84c5042c79d1466
regarding file CMakeLists.txt, excluding the GUI fix.

Fixing a crash that apparently is connected to a failed translation
of a string as reported in bug 414375.

Burkhard Lück <lueck@hube-lueck.de> provided a patch to CMakeLists.txt
which should fix this problem.

In addition to Burkhard's patch, a GUI issue was fixed so that empty
strings are not attempted to be translated leading to placeholder
messages shown instead of just nothing.

This commit is a backport from master's commit 84c5042c79d14667c5d9cd.
