Description Claus Appel 2019-11-17 09:37:27 UTC
When saving screenshots, I often want to save a whole bunch of files with similar names. If I name my first picture "Shanghai skyline 01", then I probably want the next one to be named "Shanghai skyline 02". It would be great if Spectacle would guess and suggest this automatically.

KSnapshot has this feature.

You can set up Spectacle to do this manually in the settings window in later versions (Spectacle 17.12 is two years old) but it isn't done automatically.

In v19.12.2 I can see two options for sequential numbering, but it's totally non-apparent how to keep the filename preface. All the placeholders seem to be unrelated to the previously chosen filename.

Try the following:
Configure - General - enable "Autosave the image to the default location"
Configure - Save - Set your desired Save Location; set Filename to "Shanghai skyline %2d"

Now every time you hit PrtScr , it will take a screenshot and save it with sequential numbering. One drawback: when you finish that batch, you have to go back to Settings and change back the Filename to some default.
