SUMMARY
a select tools shift out

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. take any (select tool), to do selection on layer.
2. then take (move tool) to shift selection with contains on same layer.
3. back to (select tool) ... selection is moved.

OBSERVED RESULT
 selection is moved

EXPECTED RESULT
 must remain on same cut's place

I'm sorry, but this is intentional, not a bug. Other applications, like Photoshop work in exactly the same way.

In 4.2.7.1 (macOs) does not present the selection offset after moving shown in the video.

I've just tried this with the 4.2.8.1 beta1 appimage and the Windows 10 .zip package. I don't get that selection offset.
I don't get it with the 4.2.7.1 or a recent 4.3.0 prealpha either.

Maybe try to reset krita's settings?
