SUMMARY: Discover reports an update is available, when it isn't. Attempt to upgrade anyway results in "Aborted due to failure." Thus, Discover tray icon always reports updates are available, and so the user never knows without opening Discover and checking if actual updates are available.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Gradio 7.3 via Flatpak (https://github.com/haecker-felix/Gradio)
2. Check for updates in Discover (see attachment)

OBSERVED RESULT
Both Gradio and GNOME Application Platform 3.34 show they are available for upgrade when they are at the newest version. Gradio will never be updated beyond 7.3 according to its developer.

EXPECTED RESULT
No update should be available.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm not a developer, and this is my first bug report. If I did it wrong, I apologize. If I had to guess there's something wrong with naming. I researched and also asked on the IRC channel and tried to identify if this was previously reported. Please don't waste much effort on this. It's merely a nuisance that essentially makes the tray update notifier ineffective. Thanks for the great DE!

what does `flatpak update` say? Does it find any available updates?
Comment 2 Bo Grimes 2019-10-29 11:50:48 UTC
I had already uninstalled it planning to install an older .deb version.

So I reinstalled it via flatpak (flatpak install flathub de.haeckerfelix.gradio). I am no longer having the issue. But it seems there are two flatpaks available in flathub: stable and 7.3 (stable), but released at the same time on the same date.

This time flatpak installed "stable" (which is also v7.3), and last time it installed "7.3 stable", though I used the same command both times.

It seems the issue is with Gradio and Flathub and naming and not Discover. I hope I didn't waste too much of your time.

Thanks!

No problem! Please do report the issue to the Flathub people: https://github.com/flathub/de.haeckerfelix.gradio/issues
