more columns in Tags manager

I started to manage my large image collection with more than 60.000 pics and realised that it is a very tedious and long process. It is very helpful that in digikam we could use in the tagging process the list of keywords in two places, in Tags manager and in the Captions. But it could be even more things to facilitate the process.

I think it would be very helpful when tagging a large image collection to have an option for displaying more columns (a toggle option between single and multicolumn) when the tags list is showed in Tags manager and not only one like actually. With large tags collection it would be more efficient using the monitor space for displaying a larger list of options at once, without scrolling down so much. It would be a grat feature for smaller monitors and laptops too, but especially with large monitors or dual monitor systems. With the increasing quantity or images we handle, I think this could be very helpful.

Another useful feature would be an option to hide/show tag icons in tags manager.

I attached an example with five columns fitted in a Tags manager window on a 1440x960px secondary monitor. With more resolution it can be even more. What do you think?

I don't like very much this layout. Also technically, it will be very hard to cut a large tree-view of tags in multi-columns.

I agree with Gilles's assessment here. Technically, a QTreeView does not support this view. Practically it would have to be tinkered. Made up of several tree views without a frame. A filter always displays only the elements from the previous tree view. But what if the space is still not enough, the last gets a scroll bar again? WONTFIX

Yes, if not fit all, it would be in bottom a horozontal scroll bar. But many more (5x or more) tags could be displayed, making more convenient finding the right one. My opinion is that it would be easier the tagging process - for me, at last :)
