SUMMARY
If you have a right click context menu open, the screen lock will not activate.
Regardless. closing the lid sends the laptop to sleep and it wakes up without a lock screen. also triggering the lockscreen with a keyboard shortcut doesnt work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click somewhere here on the browser
2. Trigger the lock screen. Meta+L or close laptop lid.


OBSERVED RESULT
No lock screen

Locked screen requiring password

This is a known limitation on X11 and is fixed on Wayland.
