STEPS TO REPRODUCE
convert a document color space (whatever color model)…

OBSERVED RESULT
…turn alpha inheritance off to all layers where it was active

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: Mojave 10.14.3

Does it still happen? If so, can you please provide a test file and say which colorspace it needs to be converted to (so I have a clear path to do it)? I can't reproduce in 4.4.3-beta2.
