SUMMARY
After starting SDDM or Plasma-Shell, my mouse (Mad Catz RAT 4 USB, Model No 43731) does not work correctly.
For instance, I can not left-click or right-click on anything.
After doing a vty-switch using CTRL+ALT+F2, waiting for some time, then switch back to VTY1, I can now right-click.
However, left-click now only works on apps other than plasma-shell.

However, Plasma can't rendered correctly now: Notifications, the startmenu, etc. are now transparent.
To get this working again I have to `kquitapp5 plasmashell && sleep 2 && kstart5 plasmashell` to get it working.
(This happens however on every VTYSwitch, another bug report filed here aswell.)

This happened from the first day on using a fresh ArchLinux install with `pacman -S plasma-desktop sddm`.
Replugging the mouse seems to help aswell.
Other mice are not affected, they work great without any issues.

I am using the latest ArchLinux packages.
This bug is reproducible using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers (430.40, DKMS) and nouveau-drivers.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. systemctl enable sddm
2. Reboot
3. Try to click on something in the login screen, not working
4. Log in to plasma
5. Mouse still not working
6. Switch to other VTY
7. Wait some time
8. Switch Back to VTY1
9. Right-Click on Desktop is now working, some apps can get left-clicked. Left-Click on any plasma panel still not working.
10. Start console via keyboard
11. `kquitapp5 plasmashell && sleep 2 && kstart5 plasmashell`
12. Plasma restarts, mouse is now working again

OBSERVED RESULT
Mouse not working correctly after sddm/plasma startup

EXPECTED RESULT
Mouse should be working after sddm/plasma startup

So clicking doesn't work, but you can move the mouse and the pointer moves on-screen?

Hi,

sorry for the late reply.

Yes, moving around works and the hovered over textboxes set the cursor to the "here is a textfield"-cursor. Only clicking does not work.

I will check later if i can still find the mouse, as i replaced it already.
Maybe this was already fixed.

Thanks
Stephan

This seems like it might be a hardware issue. Does it work with another mouse? Does that same mouse click on things properly in Firefox or Gedit?
