I have had the same experience myself. Putting two text fields that can accept paths in the same dialog is the source of this confusion. I wonder if we could make the top text field accept files as well as folders as input when in "Open" mode, and when in "Save" mode, use the bottom text field just a filename field where you can type in the name. So in this case, that field wouldn't even be visible in the open dialog. I regularly find myself pasting a complete file path into the URL navigator of a file open dialog, and it gets rejected as "Not a directory". I agree that this is not intuitive. |
