Description Linus Kardell 2019-07-09 12:22:45 UTC
SUMMARY
Sometimes, when I click in the panel, the click instead goes to an unrelated tray item. The tray items I've found that are able to capture clicks in this way are the ones from Steam, Skype and redshift-gtk. It mostly seems to happen after I've recently right clicked the tray item in question. It also only seems to happen when the panel is set to "hide automatically"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the panel to hide automatically
2. Have Steam, Skype or redshift-gtk running
3. Right click its tray item
4. Click anywhere else, to close the tray item menu
5. Left or right click a different tray item

OBSERVED RESULT
The menu for the tray item you clicked first pops up again.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu for the latest clicked tray item should pop up.

When this happens is the panel responding to other visual updates? Is the clock still changing for example?

When this happens the panel continues to respond as normal. The behaviour only manifests itself when right clicking to interact with an app in the panel.

can you confirm if you run "killall xembedsniproxy" the relevant icons go away, but everything works again?

I ran "killall xembedsniproxy" and the systray refreshed but it still didn't fix the bug
