SUMMARY

Until not too long ago my Canon LIDE 30 scanner worked with the KDE scanning applications, e.g. Skanlite.
Since some time, I think since I upgraded my distro to OpenSUSE 15.0 it works only very rarely.
I have to plug it in and out and in again, and sometimes it does scan.
Otherwise it moves a bit, and afterwards it only produces black images without actually doing anything.

Using "SimpleScan" it works a bit more often than using Skanlite, but also only sporadically.

I tried the commercial VueScan application, and using this scanning works.

I know this is probably not Skanlite's fault, but I have no idea in which part of the software stack I have to start searching the problem.

Since it worked earlier, I'd hope I could figure out what changes made it not work anymore.

Can you give me some pointers ?

Thanks
Alex

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer.

This is with, I would estimate, 99% probability a bug in the sane-backend.

This is the address to report issues:
