Description ivanalan54 2019-06-22 10:56:36 UTC
SUMMARY
I had digikam 6.0 and it worked very well.
The installation of Digikam 6.1 ask to delete the previous installation and I have lost every .db file so I can't resume nothing (I had 30.000 photos and videos on my albums)
After the installation of Digikam 6.1 is impossible to configure and save any album and any preference.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Installation of Digikam 6.1
2. At opening, the software ask to configure albums. I add three folders placed in two external disks, press ok and enter in the main window. Nothing happens.
3. I've tried to reinstall the previous version (6.0). No more works. What's changed?
4. I've tried to reconfigure Windows Sqllite, i've tried to change folders access permission, I've tried as System Administrator, but nothing works.
5 I've tried to add albums from configuration panel, but nothing happens.

OBSERVED RESULT
No one report to individuate the problem.

This is wrong : Windows installer only remove the binaries distribution of the program, installed in C:\program Files by default. It do not touch your files in home directory and your database/settings.

>I've tried to reconfigure Windows Sqllite, i've tried to change folders access >permission, I've tried as System Administrator, but nothing works.

Welcome to Windows world, with the high security level of sub system which refuse to install client application, or break install without information/report.

You have an antivirus working in the background ? Do not search more... Even if digiKam for Windows is cross compiled under Linux (no virus is possible in this case), the application is in certain cases detected as malware. In fact the malware is the Antivirus itself.

This is why i refuse to work under M$ OS...

Normally it is not a problem to uninstall a previous version and install a new one. The databases and configuration files are *not* deleted. Do you use a tool that monitors and logs program installations and then removes everything completely?

See if the digiKam configuration file (digikamrc) exists under:

C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\digikamrc

If so, rename or remove and try again to set up a digiKam setup.

Windows has an antivirus internally turned on by default with plenty of security stuff... It's infernal to tune...

And i don't talk about the auto update working in background and locking system functionality while many hours. Windows is just a waste of time for time...

Installed Digikam 6.1 on other PC without previous installation.
All works fine.
Now I clean W10 register.
Tks to all. I think solved.

Ok, I close the bug. If necessary, open it again if necessary.
