SUMMARY

If a wifi SSID contains emoticons, then they won't appear properly.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a wifi SSID with emoticons in the name.
2. Bring up the applet while in range.


OBSERVED RESULT
It doesn't show the emoticons


EXPECTED RESULT
It does shot the emoticons

This seem to work for me, when I create a hotspot on my phone with emojis in the SSID, then they are correctly displayed in both the applet and nmcli.

Interesting... Thanks for the reply! Not really sure how to check my own environment's differences against yours. my bash version is '5.0.3(1)-release' and when I attempt to manually do this:

printf '\U1F984\n'

the output is still a square. Anyone know of the first place I should look?

I see a Unicorn when I execute this command in Konsole/bash. Maybe check your fonts?
