Hello !

The Automatic mask effect have his box aspect ratio blocked on 16/9.
impossible to do a square for example.

I've tested 4 versions :
1 - Ubuntu package Version 16.12.2
And theses random versions
2 - kdenlive-18.12.1b-x86_64.appimage
3 - kdenlive-19.04.1c-x86_64.appimage
Finaly found this old one, and can make a square with it
4 - Kdenlive-16.12.2-x86_64.AppImage

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click on video timeline
2. Add Effect > blur and hide > automatic mask
OBSERVED RESULT on version older 16.12.2
3. Simply drag the corner of the red box > rectangle forced
4. Or enter "w" and "H" value > rectangle when validation
EXPECTED RESULT on version 16.12.2
3. Simply drag the corner of the red box > square or other size ok
4. Or enter "w" and "H" value > square or other size when validation

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
GNU/Linux Ubuntu Mate 18.04

Thanks !
Regards,
Makoto

You can now define preferred effects and compositions. These will appear in the timeline context menus and in the effect/composition baskets for easier access.

Right click automask -> add to favorites and it will appear in the timeline context menus under insert an effect. Automaks gets bold meaning it’s a favorite effect which you can see by clicking the star (show favorite items) in the effect window.
