When I change the toolbar style, in particular to display icons only without any text, then Kopete does as it is told, but does not write that to its config file. Hence the next time I load up Kopete, the toolbar is back to its old appearance.

I copied the relevant setting[0] over from my KDE4 Kopete config file and it worked -- Kopete now starts with only icons. So the setting is still there, it is just not written to file.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
