You need to provide more information, if only cirscunstancial. IE - Size of the image you were working on - Amount of layers and the type of them - what platform (win, mac, linux) are you running? - RAM of your system - how many monitors are you using - What graphics card. while it may be random, more details could help us understand what could be happening.
