I'm afraid there's no information in this bug report. Please see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting Hallo Nate, There was a link to suggestions for improvements to KATE. Since I am very happy with the editor I use it a lot. Unfortunately the printing cannot be parameterized permanently. I would like to define page margins etc. once and for all so that I don't have to constantly redefine them. That was my request from Germany. My English is unfortunately poor. And I didn't find a bug, I have KATE running without errors. Maybe you can bring up my request when it comes to the further development of KATE. Thank you. Please see > https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting But we don't know what suggestion you want. "have more control in parameter for printouts" doesn't tell us anything. More control how? What is the problem you currently have? Thanks for your request. Unfortunately the printing cannot be parameterized permanently in a setup config... I would like to define page margins etc. once and for all so that I don't have to constantly redefine them for each printout. The default margins should be defined by user at a defined mask or config-file. Did you understand now? Can you tell me which settings you would like to define defaults for? Just the printer margins? Or any others? Hallo Nate, thanks for asking: for me are important: page margins (left, right, top, down) page orientation Also would it be nice to have one more placeholder for header-line or footer-line like %y, %U, %p, ... additional variable %PageCount ----- > for example page %p of %PageCount printed as for example page 3 of 6 Regards Wolfgang -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: Nate Graham <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> An: Wolfgang.Hopp@123jederzeit.de <Wolfgang.Hopp@123jederzeit.de> Gesendet: Donnerstag, 18. Can you tell me which settings you would like to define > defaults for? Just the printer margins? Or any others? Thanks for the info. This was once fixed by some extra code in Kate's printing dialog. It was removed with the transition to Qt5 since it was supposed to be fixed in Qt5, but it seems the margins are still not remembered. Maybe we should search for this removal by me in the git repo. 1aa12bace62fffbcad357623842a0fc01607b3c0 The above once was my fix. Maybe we have to add this again? Anyone wants to test? How is that handled by other applications? Have the feeling it should be done on some "global" level. At least as long as some document is in the "recent used list", it should remember the print settings. >>At least as long as some document is in the "recent used list", it should remember the print settings.<< Sounds like a smart solution ... regards Wolfgang *** Was ist, darf sein. I reported "[Regression] Document print margins not persistent." as a bug back in 2017-08-19 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383697 It would be nice to see some movement on this... :) I would not save print settings per document, since it's very intransparent to users. Best would be to save it per printer per application. My patch at that time saved per application (KTextEditor only), but not per printer --> if you have multiple printers, it likely is not always what you want either. Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I'm setting status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks. Hallo Justin, in the next weeks I have no time to test Kate again. Sorry but I use now gedit and Ubuntu 20.14 - last year so Kate was not practicable for me - I had to define for every printout extra my print parameters. Kate was not able to store them permanently. Thanks for supporting Linux and thanks for your deployment to try help me. Using: Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.2 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.71.0 Qt Version: 5.12.7 Kate Version: 20.04.2 I can confirm that kate does now store the print settings. I assume subject to: "... patch at that time saved per application (KTextEditor only), but not per printer..." ref comment #13 (I don't have multiple printers on this machine with which to test.) |
