Hello,
the "Reread Metadata From File" does not work for tags.

When I add or remove tags outside of digiKam and then "Reread Metadata From File" nothing happens. Tags are not added nor removed in the digiKam DB.

I have selected "Clean up the metadata from the database".

DigiKam looks for tags in different metadata fields, you may have removed them, but there are still the same entries in other fields. Can you provide a test image?

Hello Maik,
yes, you are right.
I have now removed all XMP/IPTC read/write in digiKam and use only the EXIF/JPG data. Now everything works as expected.
