SUMMARY
When dropping image from https site error message appears saying https protocol unknown

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Search for some image in google
2. Drag image from results onto canvas
3. I opened menu select reference image

OBSERVED RESULT
Error https protocol unknown

EXPECTED RESULT
Image displayed as reference image

That is correct. We don't ship Krita with https capability because we need the openssl library for that, and we don't build that at the moment. Sothis is a feature request, not a bug.

Is it somewhere on the roadmap? Large and growing portion of the web is over https.

I don't know about that but my impression was that if you drag an image from typical web browsers, the drag&drop data should contain the actual bitmap image data instead of just the image URL.

We now build Krita with https on Windows, macOS and Linux.
