Yosemite is ancient! The last security update for it dates back to 2015 :s.

Im not sure but I think it was decided to just support the last two previous versions of OSX. however we currently build Krita with a OSX minimum version of 10.11 in mind, which is "El Capitan".

I'm not sure we can assure krita will work well for "Yosemite" as we lack an OSX from that version to test :/

We're dependent on what Qt supports: https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/macos.html -- i.e., 10.12 and up since 5.12.

Thanks. I’ll try to install 10.11 and check it out. Apple has been releasing new OS with little new in them, at least for me, and rapidly growing footprint. The latest OS is about 6.5 GB.
Coming from Expression, which was sold to Microsoft and then abandoned, I was so happy to find Krita only to discover it doesn’t run under the macOS 10.6.8 which I have to use on the older Mac.
It is the last OS compatible with few important older applications (PS CS5, iWeb, Expression, Freeway) that I use.
Unlike the Windows, the Mac operating systems are free and available for d/loading. I’d appreciate if you could recompile Krita for the the older version. I assume it wouldn’t need any other effort, but I may be wrong.
Thanks again for a wonderful application.

Best regards,

Jack.

It simply is not possible, since our development platform doesn't support older versions of macOS.
