This is a general report and not totally specific to kcontrol.  I think that when the double clicking option for the mouse is turned on in kcontrol certain actions should still remain signle click.  For example items inside the tree in kcontrol should still be activated with a single click.  I only click on the +'s in kcontrol once so the other items under the main catagory should also remain single click.  This goes the same with the new open-dialog boxes in KDE3.  The Desktop Home Dir Documents etc buttons should also be activated with a single click since these are buttons and not icons.  I hope this is the right place to send this ... I wasn't quite sure.

Now we have similar problems in the trees of the Navigation panel in the Konqueror file browser 
So now (KDE 3.1 RC3) the beviour is of mouse clicks  in trees is consistent but unfortunately 
totally wrong.

I don't think this is relevant anymore. can someone else confirm this too and close the bug?

I believe this is still a problem with system settings,  System settings puts a list of hyperlink/buttons down, and they should be treated as such...  They are not representing danger-items and they do  not have an alternate action associated with them.

(although part of the bug was that they did show the "I have mouse over me, will do something if clicked"  and now they don't..  the do act more like icons, but still logically they are buttons or hyperlinks, they are in a browser that has a back button... SystemSettings is a browser...)
