SUMMARY
I have a dual display setup: one is my laptop (surface laptop) and the other is a external LG monitor connected through mini displayport to hdmi. When I disconnect my monitor the windows of the upper screen jump to the main one (my laptop) and I'm unable to resize them above a certain height. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect external display
2. set it above the the main display: https://i.imgur.com/nb7lCFY.png
3. move a window to the upper screen. 
4. disconnect the upper screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
The windows jump to the bottom screen but get weirdly sized (limited height compared to the full screen)

EXPECTED RESULT
being able to resize them completely.

I can also confirm that 'kwin --replace &' does not fix the issue.

I can also confirm restart plasmashell does also not fix it. The only thing fixing it currently is logging out and logging back in with sddm

Please try with a newer KDE version.
Multiple monitors support has been improved specially in X11 sessions.
