Glad to see Amarok is going to be maintained again. It is one of the main reasons why I came back to KDE and I was disappointed to see it's not part of the main software suite anymore. I hope this is going well ? I'm willing to help. Here's a suggestion :

I would love to have the cover art for the current playing track/album displayed as the main panel/playlist background image. This would only need a few settings regarding desired transparency level (and possibly where/how to locate cover pictures – mine are in album folder named after %artist - %album.jpg).

Perhaps also it could be enhanced to display cover art pictures for each album's total tracks following eachother in a playlist, i.e. for instance if my playlist consists of three albums in a row, have all three covers take up each the space of their corresponding tracks, no more no less. This sounds a bit more hazardous. Just an idea.

I use Kubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04 LTS with KDE Plasma.

NOTE : see the original suggestion to the Strawberry software developper(s) : https://github.com/jonaski/strawberry/issues/74
Strawberry is a recent fork of Clementine, itself an older -and deprecating- fork of Amarok.

We can need helping hands any time, just be aware there is a big chunk of work to port all the Context View plasma applets to QML. Please join the amarok-devel mailing list and follow us on phabricator.kde.org
