This was on Slackware 14.2 stable in virtual machine. Please use plasma 5 for support. (In reply to David Edmundson from comment #2) > Please use plasma 5 for support. Yes, but KDE5 doesn't come in Slackware 14.2 STABLE... only this version does. There should be a fix for it, surely you guys found one between KDE4 and KDE5...It's for Slackware STABLE. If this KDE issue isn't fixed, then it's not STABLE.. is it? Lol. I love how linux developers love to just sweep things under rug and not fix stuff. And I'm sure the same bug is there in KDE5 anyway, and still won't get support for it and told to use yet another KDE version. Please ask for support for unmaintained software in a forum of your distribution. You could also use a distribution. Heck, even Debian stable (which is known to ship outdated software) has Plasma 5.8 LTS.

No, it isn't.

"Hi yes sir, we applied that fix to KDE5 but we're too lazy to fix the KDE4 version of it... have a nice day sir." ... We didn't apply a fix to the new version that could be backported. We couldn't fix the bug because we had to wait to be able to make API incompatible changes. Given that the bug you see in KDE4 is the most reported KDE4 bug ever[1], we sure were pressed to find a solution. But it wasn't possible without breaking API, so it had to wait for the KF5 split and KAuth rewrite. You are free to use old versions or distributions. But we don't like comments that violate the KDE code of conduct. For more information, please see https://kde.org/code-of-conduct/ [1] See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242648 (and many other duplicates that were not marked as such, and also not marked closed to minimize spamming all reporters) (In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #6) > We didn't apply a fix to the new version that could be backported. > > We couldn't fix the bug because we had to wait to be able to make API > incompatible changes. I shouldn't have done that nor acted that way. Just sucks cause on distrowatch page it shows Slackware uses KDE 5.15.2 or whatever and turns out they're not using KDE 5 anyway. Also, was just trying KDE Neon in virtualbox and can't change the resolution at all. I'm stuck at 800x600 resolution, and went to change it to higher setting and it acts like it's going to change, but doesn't and goes right back to 800x600 resolution again... So I couldn't even use KDE Neon if I wanted too or had too. :( Always some issues with KDE sigh. |
