SUMMARY
I have 4 desktops
#1. free
#2: Dolpin and terminal
#3: Firefox
#4: Thunderbird

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Normal usage of Desktop
2. Activate 4 desktops 
3. Start programs and place them on the different desktops

OBSERVED RESULT
The entries in the taskbar are not sorted according to the different desktops.
Should be sorted.

EXPECTED RESULT
I have four desktops
#1: free 
#2: Dolphin
#3. Firefox
#4: Thunderbird
The entries in the taskbar should be sorted:
1) Dolphin
2) Terminal
3) Firefox
4) Thunderbird

They can be, but this is a non-default option.

Right-click on task manager > Configure Task Manager > scroll down > Check "show only tasks from the current desktop"

I wonder whether we should make this the default...

This is not meant this way.

The taskbar should sort the entries in the taskbar in the right order.

e.g.:
Desktop 1 free
Dolphin and terminal on desktop 2
Firefox on desktop 3
Thunderbird on desktop 4

In the taskbar, the "icons" are sorted in the following way:
Dolphin, Firefox, Terminal and Thunderbird

and should be

Dolphin, Terminal, Firefox and Thunderbird.

Then you want to use the "Sorting: By Desktop" setting in that dialog.
