Badges overlap
Yeah I know, so what do you propose? > Yeah I know, so what do you propose?
Sadly, I don't have a suggestion for this. I'll get back to you if I get any.
The simplest ideea would probably changing the corner of the Sound notification, from top-left to bottom-right. Doing so, they will never overlap. Unfortunately, I don't know how ergonomic such a change will be... What could be easily done is to force a circle for InfoBadge at such case and Elide the InfoBadge is such case > What could be easily done is to force a circle for InfoBadge at such case and Elide the InfoBadge is such case
Sorry, but I'm not exactly sure what those changes mean.
Maybe the indicators placement can be rethinked a bit. in the same situation is the file indexer notification. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1X5-Q0qVHZbG1TP2D_YZiqoOk9hf-jn9J (In reply to Viorel-Cătălin Răpițeanu from comment #7) > Maybe the indicators placement can be rethinked a bit. in the same situation > is the file indexer notification. > https://drive.google.com/open?id=1X5-Q0qVHZbG1TP2D_YZiqoOk9hf-jn9J personally I find it sufficient, feel free to contribute of course patches for review through phabricator observing limitations from any implementation is always the case new proposals need to have good arguments and always need to consider to not break current workflows > new proposals need to have good arguments and always need to consider to not break current workflows I couldn't agree more. Making changes for the sake of changing or for the sake of fixing a small papercut (that will probably never be seen by anyone) and, by doing so, sacrificing usability or braking the existing workflow is a definite no-go. > personally I find it sufficient, feel free to contribute of course patches for review through phabricator Will do if I get an ideea. Thanks for listening so far. Just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks... This is a really tough thing, because Latte is way more powerful than any other existing docks, so any existing solutions for this isn't gonna cut it. This being said, this is I've been thinking so far: 1. Notification badge. Remain where it is (top-left corner). Because it can cover the complete top row, I don't think anything else should be placed on this row. 2. Sound badge button. Move to the bottom-right for all aplications. You can't know long the notification badge is/will become and you probably don't want it to move on its own to other places based on the notification width (that's dumb because it forces the user to always look carefully every single time it tries to mute an application). 3. Progress badge. Also move to the bottom-right for all applications. Right now it's hidden whenever a notification is being displayed. 4. Progress + Sound notification scenario. Combine the Progress badge with the notification badge. The button should remain round, display the sound icon in the middle while the button's background can be the progress pie. (I know... This will probably be hell to implement it). For now, this is all I could think of... > 4. Progress + Sound notification scenario. Combine the Progress badge with the notification badge.
I meant to say sound badge...
4. Progress + Sound badge scenario. Combine the Progress badge with the Sound badge.
Maybe display "9+" for a ">=10 badge" ? Because when you have too many notifications, you're likely not to care about how much it is. And when the icon size is not big enough, just show a small blue circle without number to indicate that you have some notifications ? > Maybe display "9+" for a ">=10 badge" ?
> Because when you have too many notifications, you're likely not to care about how much it is.
This could work for the sound badge. Do you have any ideea for the progress badge? Right now it's displayed underneath the notification badge.

I've posted a video for this issue at comment 7. Git commit ef457f7cb3acd0bbe957058d57ea4d6eddca41ef by Michail Vourlakos. Committed on 25/01/2019 at 14:46. Looks really good! Thanks for your continued support! |
