Description sa666666 2019-01-20 14:50:51 UTC
SUMMARY
Starting kmail after it has been minimized doesn't show app window.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start kmail and minimize to tray.
2. Restart kmail (either by icon, commandline, hotkey, etc).
3. Kmail window doesn't reappear

OBSERVED RESULT
Window doesn't appear. Taskbar has an entry, but alt-tab doesn't show an icon for kmail. You have to physically click the taskbar entry or alt-tab to the (empty) icon for the window to appear.

EXPECTED RESULT
Window should appear and be brought to front without any other action being required.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
MacOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: yes
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54
Qt Version: 5.11.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Starting happening over the past year or so; I can't narrow it down any further.

No issue found. After starting then minimizing to tray, restarting KMail (from the applications menu or using alt-f2) restores the window.
Comment 2 sa666666 2019-01-21 12:44:52 UTC
I created a new user account, so the account is using all defaults. This is still happening.
Comment 3 sa666666 2019-01-21 12:45:38 UTC
It's also happening on 3 different machines with different setups.
Comment 4 Christophe Marin 2019-01-21 13:01:07 UTC
Do you use a wayland session?
Comment 5 Christophe Marin 2019-01-21 13:07:36 UTC
in systemsettings / "Applications" module / "Email Client", what's the setting ?
Comment 6 sa666666 2019-01-21 13:25:44 UTC
Only use X11; have never tested Wayland.

Default app is Kmail in System Settings. As mentioned, I don't change any settings whatsoever, so it's all the defaults.
Comment 7 sa666666 2019-02-16 19:33:42 UTC
This seems to be fixed in the latest batch of KDE Neon releases over the past week or so. I will leave it open; you can decide whether to close it or not.
