Sentry Crash Report:

Description M 2019-01-01 09:44:25 UTC
Checking "Hide splash screen on startup" under General krita configuration does absolutely nothing. On program start it still shows up. IIRC, on 4.16 it used to work correctly for me (on Windows 7) and hide it, now the behaviour is exactly the same with the box checked or unchecked.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Krita and check "Hide splash screen on startup" under general/miscellaneous settings
2. Restart Krita
3. Observe splash screen is still there.

OBSERVED RESULT
Splash screen visible.

EXPECTED RESULT
Splash screen hidden.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 7 SP1 (Spanish) (x86_64)

(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version: 5.9.3

Thanks for the report. This option was originally meant to hide the info window with the splash screen and various links after Krita had started.

At least with Krita 3.0, that option did not hide the splash as Krita was starting.

Then we added a commandline option (--nosplash) that would also hide the splash itself.

Then we replaced the splash window with links with the the same info in the mainwindow if no image was open.

I'll backport the patch that removed the option from the settings dialog to the 4.1 branch.
