This is may be a manifestation of the inherent I/O performance bottleneck with the NTFS filesystem. Does this have something to do with size limiting the recycle bin? On Reddit we seem to have all noticed a slowdown when recycling via Dolphin, if the size limit is enabled. It's possible the bug only takes effect with a full bin, I don't know on that one. Is there any change KIO could be iterating the entire trash folder to determine current size? The issue shown in my screen recording is still happening regardless trash size limit is enabled or not in Dolphin 19.12.1 preferences. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.66.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 Humm, the behavior of files view seen in the screen recording only occurs when files are sent to /home/myusername/.local/share/Trash/ when moved to Trash, as mentioned in bug 76380 comment 79. I have configured my system to send deleted files to .Trash-<userid> folder located in the same partition instead (read link below) and now files view no longer behaves as seen in the screen recording, but Dolphin is still taking long time to delete thousands of small files from NTFS partition anyway. I have just sent ~2050 jpg files to Trash and Dolphin 21.04 took ~6 minutes to complete the operation. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Trash_management#Unable_to_find_or_create_trash_directory Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.81.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Graphics Platform: Wayland |
