SUMMARY
Tried to install gsmart control and lm-sensors via discover. I used the search terms: gsmart amd lm sensor and got no hits. Both packages, with the same search criteria returned the correct hits with muon.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Discover
2. Type the above search criteria in the search box
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
I have observed 4 different results:
1/ Sorry not found,
2/ The app appears in the Discover window while it is still processing (the little circle at the middle bottom keeps turning) but it disappears when the little circle stops turning.
3/ Given enough tries I have actually seen the correct result.
4/ After installing with muon it finds the application as installed.

EXPECTED RESULT
It is expected that the correct result is obtainable with incomplete search criteria as I have indicated above, ie lm sensor should find lm sensors. It is not always clear what the repository name is versus the "street" name, this is quite common in search engines.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I have the correct software sources as the apps can be found via muon. The list of apps that Discover cannot find is much longer than the 2 I have mentioned here.

Bug 392521 appears to be relevant and has a status of resolved upstream as at April 2018. This appears to be incorrect.

Just to add to expected results: The list of results should be ranked with the closest match at the top of the list.

Because these applications don't offer metadata for the software center. If you want to list these, you'll have to enter the exact package name.

Suggesting gsmart control and lm-sensors to provide good appstream information would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Aleix,

first up, if Muon can do it there is obviously the information available somewhere. To say that in 2018 we have to imagine we are back in 1990 to search for something on the internet is just absurd.

Second up, what you say does not address the variety of observed results I have experienced. Your explanation is highly suspect given the observed result listed in point 2 (the correct result was shown but then disappears). In addition how can there be varying results from the same input unless there is something else causing a problem.

It is not clear to me what your second paragraph is saying or requesting.
