Description jay 2018-12-05 20:33:12 UTC
Hard to find a duplicate problem for this release.
    Installed Kubuntu 18-04.1 on Nov.1
Problem is random. Occurred 4 times between 11/1 and today 12/5/18 and
I typically login 1 or 2 times a day.
After password "enter", screen normally shows black with 3 circles,
a ">" symbol, plus a little revolving circle.
Problem is that on the 4 times mentioned it never moves on to a working
desktop . Nothing will clear it. Not Ctrl, Alt, Del or Esc or any other combination of keys I try.
Sounds sort of like 228205, and 279834 but these had to be on older
releases.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have no way to reproduce, as it occurs at random.
2. Don't know how to get more information, as nothing but power-off allows me to proceed.
3.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Christoph Feck 2018-12-05 22:24:05 UTC
What packages did you update? I have seen others reporting issues with SDDM (the login manager), and I doubt it is related to updates of KDE packages.
Comment 2 Christoph Feck 2018-12-27 19:41:19 UTC
Is this still an issue after recent updates?
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2020-09-28 20:21:23 UTC
No response; assuming it was fixed with since then with the new LTS.
Comment 4 jay 2020-09-28 21:22:52 UTC
Still have the bug (as of 2020-09-28.) Occurs at random on average about 10% of the time. Even if eventually fixed (accidentally or by an unrelated change), we'll probably never know why.

Are you still using Kubuntu 18.04? If so, can you upgrade to 20.04 and try again?
