A useful addition to Dolphin imho would be a default tool for renaming multiple files at once. It seems a pretty standard feature of any modern file manager to me, and I was disappointed to see that Dolphin has only a very basic tool.
I had always been fully satisfied with XFCE's such Thunar tool when using that interface. It allows for different types of pattern renaming, especially ones based on regex. Perhaps a good source to copy.
Thank you !

You can rename multiple files at once and provide a pattern already. From what I recall there's even work going on right now to improve that UI and add some feature to it.

With Dolphin 17.12.3 under Kubuntu 18.04 I can only find a very basic multiple-files renaming tool, that only allows for numbering the files but erasing their original name. Is my installation missing something ?

From a duplicate report of this one, somebody also mentioned XFCE's Thunar and its excellent tool : https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/bulk-renamer/start When I was using it under XFCE I felt it offered everything I could require.

I'm not trying to tell KDE developers what to say, but as somebody who came to Plasma for an interface with more "breadth", and very satisfied, it just seems odd to me that such a feature isn't included.

If the developers are working on it though, great and kudos to them.
