Please provide a backtrace of when plasmashell freezes.
Run gdb plasmashell on console and then type r for "run", and once it froze hit Ctrl+C to interrupt and paste the output of thread all apply bt here. Thanks!

Thanks, you forgot to type: thread apply all bt

Looks like it's somewhere in the Intel graphics drivers?
Comment 6 Patrick Silva 2018-11-26 18:29:13 UTC
bug 390674 seems related
Comment 7 David Edmundson 2018-11-26 19:01:22 UTC

Why do you say that?

@gungger what happened to threads 1-4?

I have no idea, I never heard of these commands `gdb` or `thread apply all bt`. I just ran what I was told. If you have a way of me getting more info Ill be happy to get it
Comment 9 Patrick Silva 2019-06-09 15:57:06 UTC
I can't reproduce plasma freezing with gnome disks 3.32.1 + Plasma 5.16 beta on Arch Linux.
Plasma works as expected while gnome disks restores an ISO image to a pendrive, runs SMART tests or overwrites data with zeros (secure erasing).

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.59.0
Qt Version: 5.13.0 RC
Kernel Version: 5.1.7-arch1-1-ARCH
Comment 10 David Edmundson 2019-06-09 16:47:39 UTC
Can't reproduce strack trace is missing thread 1 which is the most important one.

If it's reproducible please supply a trace which copies it all.

Well, after all this time I've tried again and cannot reproduce at all. Either it got fixed as a sideeffect of something else or it was just me. Oh well, guess it's fixed.
